“I bless you to learn more about who you are and what your purpose really is during this [FSY] conference.”

What Is For the Strength of Youth (FSY)?
Each year, the Church holds FSY conferences around the world. These conferences are uniquely designed to help the youth have special spiritual experiences that may not occur during regular weekly Church meetings. They give the youth a chance to bond with their peers in a fun, nonjudgmental, Spirit-filled environment. These conferences will strengthen their testimony and help them build “a foundation on Christ and [become] a lifelong disciple” (Emily Belle Freeman, in “I Am a Disciple of Jesus Christ” [worldwide discussion event for youth, Jan. 28, 2024], Gospel Library).
“I wasn’t in the best mood to go, but I prayed about it and decided to go, and it was probably one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life.” —Ethan
Personal One-on-One Invitation by the Leaders
The Area Presidency would like each eligible youth to receive a personal one-on-one invitation to FSY. While handing out a flyer, sending an email, or announcing it in sacrament meeting is good, a personal face-to-face conversation is better. If a particular youth does not attend church, the leader is encouraged to visit them at home and invite them. Our goal is to invite every one of the eligible youth to be a part of FSY and share a sacred experience with peers.
Resources for FSY Invitation Effort
Sunday Lesson or Evening Devotional
To begin the effort to invite all eligible Hispanic youth to FSY, each ward or branch should hold a Sunday lesson or evening devotional to kick off the invitation effort and get the youth excited for FSY.

Church Account Error Resolutions Page
All youth need a Church account to register for FSY. In some cases, a youth may have created an account that doesn’t match their membership record. Here is a link to an online resource to help you resolve these issues so your children can register.
Financial Roadblocks
There is a onetime cost for FSY. If this cost causes any stress or financial burden that may prevent a youth from attending FSY, the ward may pay the participant fee from the ward’s FSY budget category. Here is a link to the instructions on how to do this.

Leadership Roles for FSY Invitation Effort
To make sure all youth are personally invited to FSY, please review the list of roles and responsibilities. Make sure to coordinate communication between callings so no one is forgotten or asked multiple times.
Role of Area Seventy:
Receive letter, memo, and Sunday School lesson from Area Presidency. Send these to the stakes, Hispanic wards, and Hispanic branches. Invite local FSY coordinators to visit Hispanic units and bring youth who have already been involved in FSY to share their experience.
Role of FSY Coordinating Council Representatives:
Connect with local Hispanic units. Make sure someone has talked to each youth individually. Bring youth who have already gone to FSY and had a great experience to each ward or branch lesson about FSY. Some units will do a Sunday School lesson, and some will do a devotional.
Role of Stake Presidents:
Connect with local Hispanic units. Make sure someone has talked to each youth individually. Bring youth who have already gone to FSY and had a great experience to each ward or branch lesson about FSY. Some units will offer a Sunday School lesson, and some will hold a devotional.
Role of Bishops and Branch Presidents:
Approve youth for FSY and decide whether to pay for all of the youth’s costs or just the ward’s costs. Make sure the lesson is given in youth Sunday School or as a devotional. Invite FSY coordinating council representatives to speak during the lesson along with someone who has already gone to FSY and had a positive experience. Make sure the youth’s Church account is set up properly and is working.
Role of Youth Leaders:
Invite FSY coordinating council representatives to speak or participate in the lesson with the youth. They will talk with each youth individually to ensure that their Church account is working correctly, to make sure they have approval from the bishop, and to help them sign up for FSY. Talk with each youth one-on-one about FSY and invite them to attend.

FSY Sunday Lesson (or Devotional)
*This is a lesson idea in the style of Come, Follow Me to get the youth excited for FSY and help them understand what to expect. Feel free to alter the lesson, add guest speakers, and so on. If you choose to do a devotional, you can use the concepts from this lesson and assign speakers, musical numbers, or additional video presentations.

Kickoff Video
- Kickoff Video (5:02). Start the meeting by showing this video.
- When the video is complete, ask the youth to raise their hand if any of them have attended an FSY conference before. If any say yes, ask if they feel comfortable sharing their experience. Assure them that none of their answers will be wrong.
- Use the Spirit to respond to them. Here are some possible follow-up questions:
- Did you want to attend?
- Did you feel spiritually in tune before attending?
- What was your favorite part of FSY?
- Do you feel like you made friends?
- What would you say to someone who is not sure about attending?
- Did five days go by fast?
- Did you think about what your friends were doing back home?
- Did you have fun and feel the Spirit?
What If I Feel Anxious About Going?
- Many of the youth feel anxious about leaving home for five days to attend FSY. They worry they will be judged, feel out of place, or won’t feel worthy. Help them understand that it is completely normal to feel anxious or scared in a new situation. Here is what some of the youth said in the video:
- “If someone had doubts about it, I’d tell them to just come in with an open mind.”
- “The second you get there, people are going to be welcoming you and smiling at you and making you feel like you’re their friend.”
- “No one here is going to judge you. No one’s going to bully you. No one’s going to make fun of you. It’s all cool right here.”
- Nobody is perfect except Jesus Christ. We can use our weaknesses and fears to help us grow.
- Have someone read Ether 12:27. If we believe that we are not worthy or that we are less than others, we can forget that as sons and daughters of God, we have divine worth (see Doctrine and Covenants 18:10).
What Can I Expect to Happen at FSY?
- FSY conferences are designed to help you have fun as you apply the gospel in all aspects of your life. At FSY, you will participate in five days of devotionals, classes, and activities, which will help you strengthen your faith in Jesus Christ and feel joy and belonging as you live the gospel.
While at FSY, you will:
- Associate with other youth who share your beliefs and develop new friendships.
- Experience an environment that helps you feel the joy of the gospel.
- Take part in inspiring devotionals and learn to hear Him.
- Learn how to be a leader and better communicate with your friends, parents, and others.
- Engage in activities that will bolster your self-esteem and increase your confidence.
You may want to read this quote from one of the youth in the video:
“We were doing our devotionals, and I had just been so engaged—more than I had ever in a long time—and I just felt like I needed a lot of comfort to be here. And the Lord was able to provide that for me.”
Francesca

Why Should I Go to an FSY Conference?
Help the youth understand that at FSY, they will learn that they are not alone in their struggles and challenges. Surrounded by peers, they will experience the scriptures, daily prayer, and reflection, which will create a deeper connection between them and Jesus Christ. When they are around people who share their same beliefs, they will be able to help strengthen each other and gain confidence in themselves and their purpose in life.
You may want to ask the following questions:
- Have you ever gone somewhere that you thought you wouldn’t like and ended up having a great experience (such as a vacation, a national park, or even a play or concert)? If youth answer yes, you can ask if they would mind sharing their experience.
- Has anyone here had a deep spiritual experience and regretted having it? (It’s safe to say that no one will regret a spiritual experience.)
- Do you believe that you have the power to influence people to be better in their lives? After some youth have shared their answers, read 1 Timothy 4:12: “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” Let the youth know that FSY will give them the tools to help them show love to others and become true disciples of Christ. They will receive blessings in their lives and will be able to bless the lives of others as well.
FSY offers the unique opportunity for youth to learn how to understand God’s commandments and teachings and to feel a deep respect for their religion. In less than a week’s time, FSY can change their perception of how they see the world and their place in it. Here is what some FSY attendees said:
“When I arrived [at FSY], I didn’t have much confidence with people. I didn’t have much of a testimony. But now that I’ve spent some time here, I’ve gained heaps of new friends, and my testimony is just so much stronger. I feel the Spirit every time I bear it. I just feel so much better.” —Isaiah
“It’s amazing to know that you’re not alone. We are all here together.” —Lena
Testimonies of FSY
If anyone has gone to FSY, you can offer them a chance to share a brief testimony of how it changed their lives and what it meant to them (youth should share first, followed by leaders). Be careful not to make anyone feel like they are required to share.
